Oh Mark, this is so beautifully written. I'm biased because I feel your introverted energy. Friends come and go but the best friendships are those that last a life time. When you get a chance to be together you get the feeling that you can pick up where you left off. Certain memories make you smile and remember joyous moments.

Thank you Deb! Absolutely, and I'm hoping the circle I've built will stay with me. I have a lot of these memories shared with Rowan that give me the same laughs and smiles!

I love your reflections on friendships. As introverts we need that quiet reset time but we also thrive in the company of our friends. I like your view of abandoning the idea of “best friends”. I think we build special relationships and become friends based on how our personalities attract and how we share life experiences. In this way each friendship is unique and offers a special connection with another person. You are so right that these relationships need time and nurturing - whether we do this through face-to-face interaction, telephone calls or online. How blessed are we that we can have these relationships with our friends. Yes - something to be grateful for.

Thanks for these reflections.

Thanks Mom! With all our moving, we've all had to find ways to keep up those close relationships. I'm grateful that many of my (and our family) friends also make the effort.
