A great presentation of a fascinating topic. It gets one thinking about who is the real self, or is there really a real self, or are there multiple "real" selves.
Dear Mark, It´s a meaningful dialogue between ego consciousness and higher consciousness. I clearly see their qualities through their words and interactions. The appearance of the shadow shows the maturity of the Intellect (higher consciousness), recognising the light and the darkness inherent to human nature, integrating both of them, to become One. Thank you Mark. You bring so much clarity to understanding our psychological dimension.
Hi Paola, thank you so much for your message! I find our sessions together to be particularly inspiring (and useful) in putting this piece together. You’ve helped me to see past the Ego mind and open myself up to listening for my Intellect. The journey within fills me with a lot of joy in understanding how my consciousness fits together.
This touches me a lot. Thank you dear Mark. Reaching the place of the Self (higher consciousness) is the beginning of full enjoyment of our "painful" human development, facing our human challenges are not that bad anymore. It´s the place of the I AM THAT I AM. Sending you deep peace.
"When the balance is off, that's when intrusive thoughts and anxiety are at their highest." Yes, I really resonate with this from your audio. I personally do a lot of writing, grounding, and self-reflection to bring light to these separate voices. When we go a step deeper, for example with the inner child, as Jay Shetty labels it, what's the age of this child that's present? Looking forward to read more of your posts. There's so much medicine here! Thanks again
Thanks for taking the time, Bea, I had to give it a little more thought—the age of my Child voice is somewhere around 13-16 because a lot of the “scared” reactions that arise remind me of a time where anxiety was most prevalent. It’s tough to fully resolve, and while present still in my adult life, is at the very least, manageable.
I’d be keen to read your pieces that bring light to separate voices, could you send me an example?
It's really amazing you can pick out the age, because it is hard to do. Absolutely I will, it's already on the agenda. In the "therapy world" there is one method to work out these exact systems that's called Parts work. Hence, where I asked about the inner child's age. It helps us label and break down all the "parts" that are in us from within these systems. Once I target a part, then we can hone in on it, and write about it, or use whatever methods resonate most with the person :) My post will be about that, I will deffinetly let you know. Keep me posted on any other posts you have regarding the self. Love to read
I can imagine that it takes a lot of introspection to figure out--for me, there was a lot turbulence in my life around that age range ^^
That's really cool, I'll have to read more into Parts Work, and how they all fit together. Seems like a pretty strategy approach at first glance; I'm keen to read your post about it too when it becomes available.
As for other posts regarding the 'self' I have another that you might enjoy--similar recording style, but looks at the search for inner strength during trying times!
Ohh I read it quickly but have to go back to it later to finish! Is it a short story, a reflection of your character? Is it an observation turned into a fiction art piece? Lmk!
It’s about the search for inner strength amidst my cancer treatment—the first part of the story is a fictional abstraction, but it’s cleverly pulled into a realistic setting by the end. Was a favourite piece of mine for a while! 😄 not sure if you’re listening to it, but has the similar style to this one! 🤓

Love the piece! But ngl, the first appearance of ‘Ego’ gave me a jumpscare listening 😅
Haha, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I wanted to do something fun with the voices, and I know it often has that effect ^^
