Welcome back… or Hello! If this is your first one.
We’re still on the topic of setting things up…
Around the time of the date below I was still figuring out what was going where, and in reading back over my notes, it’s a little funny to me to be writing here on Substack, where it clearly mentions not Substack below.
That’s part of the fun with setting these hobbies up, nothing is a given and you have to go and figure it all out for yourself. Spotify would be a good option, probably, but my podcast doesn’t really operate in isolation—instead it feeds off the stories that support it and so what I know now (and didn’t then) was that my original platform ideas weren’t going to be sufficient.
Nonetheless, you don’t know any of that, so I’ll leave it up for you to peruse on through!

All the pieces of the puzzle have arrived and are set up. The mic looks quite big on the boom arm, but reaches nicely to be just off centre to my face (people always mess that up, mics don’t need to be in your face, there’s no need for that), and I don’t have to reposition it around my desk. When I’m done with it, it folds up neatly against the far end of my desk, out of the way for when I don’t want to be thinking about recording.
Seeing the photo zoomed in and big here, it looks quite impressive.
I’ve also been working closely with a friend of mine on the logo artwork that will accompany my recordings on wherever else I choose to host it (Oh hey!). More on that later, when it’s been fully finalised.
Want to know about why this didn’t work though? I had no idea—my preamp wasn’t powerful enough. The next piece has the answers!
